Single vehicle collision injures a pedestrian and baby.

The Sea to Sky RCMP-Squamish are investigating a vehicle collision involving pedestrians that occurred in the evening hours of Monday April 22, 2024.

At approximately 8:30 pm, Sea to Sky RCMP-Squamish received numerous calls that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and a baby in a stroller at a crosswalk in the area of Pemberton Ave and Second Ave in downtown Squamish. The vehicle fled the scene, and was located approximately two blocks away with the driver. The baby stroller, with the baby inside, was lodged into the front of the vehicle and appeared to have been dragged from the collision.

The pedestrian and baby sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are receiving medical attention. The driver was arrested, and no other information will be provided at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

The Sea to Sky RCMP-Squamish are asking for the public’s help, if anyone has dashcam, doorbell/home security cameras in the downtown Squamish areas of Second Avenue/Pemberton Avenue, to Fourth Avenue/Winnipeg Avenue, between the hours of 8pm to 9pm to contact police. In addition, anyone who witnessed the incident, and have not yet spoken to police, please call the Sea to Sky RCMP-Squamish at 604-892-6100.

The Sea to Sky RCMP-Squamish are thanking the public for their quick actions in locating the vehicle, and providing timely information to police to assist in the investigation.
