File # 2017-45530

On April 7th, 2017 at approximately 3:50pm, Surrey RCMP was called to the 15000 block of 86th Avenue for a report of a large tree that had fallen on a vehicle in a driveway. Officers, along with Surrey Fire Services, BC Ambulance Service, City of Surrey workers, and Clover Towing were called to the scene. The vehicle, a brown Toyota Camry, was parked in the driveway when a large tree was blown over in the wind landing on the vehicle. There were two occupants in the vehicle, a female driver and a five year old female child, both residents of Surrey. The tree crushed the vehicle trapping the two occupants inside.

On scene personnel worked to get the two out of the vehicle and using rescue equipment and air bags were able to pry the vehicle open sufficiently to free both persons. Both females were examined at the scene by BC Ambulance Service and only had minor injuries.

It was the hard work by all of the groups that were there that enabled the two to be freed very quickly with only minor injuries.
