File # 2017-19688

Surrey RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in an arson vehicle fire.

On February 13th, 2017, at approximately 2:45am, Surrey RCMP was advised of a suspicious vehicle fire in the 13200 block of 98th Avenue. Officers attended to the scene and observed a 2015 Dodge Charger fully engulfed. The fire was extinguished by Surrey Fire Services.

Inquiries were conducted with the vehicle owner, his family, and with neighbours. A canvass for video surveillance in the area located video showing a male pouring a liquid, believed to be some type of accelerant, onto the vehicle and igniting it. The male then fled from the area on foot. The male is described as being between 5'8" - 5'10" tall, with a medium build, wearing a dark hoodie and dark track pants and two white stripes down the legs.

Anyone who witnessed the vehicle being set on fire, or observed the male or know his identity, is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502. If you wish to remain anonymously, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or go to www.solvecrime.ca.
