Surrey RCMP peacefully resolved a standoff that occurred January 17th in the 10000 block of 121 Street.

At 2:15 pm Surrey RCMP attended to a basement suite in the 10000 block of 121 Street after a report of a distraught male. At the scene a man threatened police and refused to present himself. With the help of police negotiators and the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, one man was taken into custody without injury at 6:20 pm. The man was then transported to hospital for assessment by doctors.

A tense situation was resolved peacefully without injury to either the man or the involved officers which is the best case scenario, says Corporal Scotty Schumann.
