Help us “Pack the Police Car” this holiday season!

2016-11-28 11:25 PST

During the first two weeks of December, the Surrey RCMP will be inviting the community to help Pack the Police Car with non-perishable food, gifts, cash donations, and other needed items in support of local food banks and charity programs.

Surrey RCMP officers, staff, and volunteers are holding multiple Pack the Police Car events over the next few weeks to help families in need during the holidays.

We know that food bank usage continues to grow exponentially and that this time of year can be especially difficult for some people in our community, says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann. While we encourage people to donate to food banks and charities all year long, we’re hoping to make the holidays a little brighter by packing our police cars full of food and donations for those less fortunate.

Local food banks graciously accept donations including grocery gift cards and monetary donations, however, suggest the following non-perishable food donations: powdered baby formula, canned protein, peanut butter, milk powder, hot and cold cereals, meals in a tin, canned vegetables and fruit, wholegrain pasta/rice, pasta sauces, and mac and cheese. The Surrey Food Bank also accepts general baby supplies for its Tiny Bundles program and the Christmas Hamper Program accepts new unwrapped toys for children.
