File # 2016-99175
Surrey RCMP is currently investigating a shooting that occurred earlier this morning in the City Centre area of Surrey.
On July 12th at approximately 2:50am, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a male being shot in the area of King George Boulevard and 108th Avenue. Officers attended and located the male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. The victim was transported to hospital in serious, but non-life threatening condition. The victim was with another male at the time who was uninjured.
The initial investigation has revealed that the two males were walking in the area when they were passed by two unknown male suspects on bicycles who fired a single shot towards them.
Surrey RCMP’s General Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Officers continue to gather evidence and conduct neighbourhood canvassing to identify potential witnesses and video surveillance. The investigation is still in its early stages, however, officers believe this is a targeted incident. Both the male victim and his associate are known to police.
