UPDATE – Surrey RCMP investigating dog attack
2016-06-23 12:24 PDT
File # 2016-87308
Surrey RCMP and the City of Surrey Bylaws advise that the dog that was involved in an attack on an adult female this past Monday (see previous release) has been located.
Surrey RCMP and the City of Surrey’s Animal Control Office received multiple tips over the past few days and worked in partnership to locate the animal and its owner. Both agencies jointly thank the public for their assistance.
The victim sustained serious injuries to her arm from this incident and has since been medically treated and released from hospital.
The owner has voluntarily surrendered the dog to Surrey Animal Control to have it put down, says Jas Rehal, Manager of City of Surrey Bylaws, Enforcement and Licensing.
While the Surrey RCMP’s investigation remains open, officers have looked at the totality of the circumstances in this file and have deemed that there is insuffient evidence to proceed with criminal charges at this time. As a result, no further information will be released, says Surrey RCMP Sergeant Alanna Dunlop.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
