Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP is seeking further witnesses and video surveillance as the investigation into a shooting early this morning continues.

On August 1, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a frontline member on proactive patrols heard and responded to what sounded like a gunshot in the area of 224 Street and Dewdney Trunk Road in Maple Ridge. A 40-year-old male was located suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

The victim is known to police and BC Emergency Health Services attended the scene to transport them to hospital.

The shooting appears to be targeted and there is no further concern for public safety at this time. This incident is not believed to be connected to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
