Maple Ridge, B.C. – The Ridge Meadows RCMP is partaking in a pilot project for a new Online Crime Reporting tool.

Starting today, June 26, citizens of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows will be able to make online reports of crimes that fall within a certain criteria, particularly crimes where no suspects or witnesses were/are present and no police presence is required. Examples of incidents which can be reported through the new online tool include;

One of the ways police learn where to concentrate our resources is to hear directly from our citizens, states Superintendent Jennifer Hyland. Unfortunately, due to a variety of factors, not all crimes get reported. This new online crime reporting tool not only provides a convenient way for residents to make a report and help paint the bigger picture but it will allow frontline police officers to focus on emergency calls for service and significant high target investigations.

Hyland further states, This is something our communities have been wanting and I think they will be very engaged and excited to be part of this pilot project.
