Police seeking owner in dog bite investigation

North Vancouver RCMP is seeking the owner of a dog that bit a man during an incident that occurred while he was on a run last week.

On March 27th, 2024, just before 7 p.m., the man was jogging in the 700 block of Copping Street in North Vancouver when a dog, being walked on-leash by a female, lunged and bit him. The man was seriously injured and taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. The female, who was walking two dogs, was initially confronted by the victim but refused to provide her contact details and continued on with her walk.

The dogs are described as Australian shepherds, both identical looking with brown, white and black fur. The female is described as Caucasian, approximately 50-60 years old, 5’8 tall, wearing a purple puffy jacket, black pants and black shoes. The female was last seen north bound on Bewicke Avenue near the train tracks.

North Vancouver RCMP are working with City of North Vancouver Animal Control to help identify the dog owner and further the investigation, said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. We’re asking the dog owner, or anyone with information on the identity of the dog owner, to come forward and call us at 604- 985-1311 and quote file 24-5808.

Dog owners are reminded of their responsibilities to report any dog bite incidents to animal control and to exchange information with the person whom the dog has bitten.
