Calls of interest:
A white 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 dually was stolen from Bobcat Driver on the night of March 1-2. The truck was a diesel, and was in very good condition, with orange cab lights, and chrome accents. Anyone who sees this truck around is asked to contact Mission RCMP, 604-826-7161.
On the morning of February 27, a male walked into a kinesiology clinic on 1st Avenue in Mission, entered a staff room, and fled with a number of the staff members’ personal effects. Witnesses followed the male at a distance and provided updates on his location to a 911 dispatcher. Mission RCMP officers caught up with the male in a trail network near the Mission Library. The male made threats and fought back, but officers were quickly able to get him into custody. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the rightful owners. The male was held in custody, and police recommended charges of theft, uttering threats, and breaching a Conditional Sentence Order in relation to a previous offence for which the male had already been arrested. Mission RCMP appreciate the information provided by the witnesses, which helped to locate the male.
A possible impaired driver was reported on the evening of February 28, after a witness observed a female stumbling as she got into her vehicle, then observed the vehicle speeding and swerving along Cedar Street. A Mission RCMP officer located the vehicle in a parking lot along London Avenue, with the female still in the driver’s seat. The 19-year-old female provided breath samples that produced a Warn reading on a roadside screening device, resulting in the driver being issued a 3-day driving prohibition and a vehicle impound.
Six other impaired drivers were taken off the roads in just over four hours on the night of March 1:
- An officer stopped a vehicle for driving without insurance on Lougheed Highway near Cedar Street around 8:30 pm. The 29-year old male received a 3-day driving prohibition after generating a Warn reading on a roadside screening device;
- Around 10 pm, an officer observed a UHaul truck driving along 14th Avenue. As it approached Cedar Street, the driver put the turn signal on but did not actually turn. The 32-year-old male driver failed two roadside tests, resulting in a 90-day driving prohibition;
- Just over an hour later, officers noted a vehicle speeding excessively and staying in the wrong lane after passing other vehicles. The 22-year-old male driver was issued a 3-day prohibition due to his blood alcohol level, and received a 7-day impound for the excessive speeding;
- Half an hour later, an officer with Mission RCMP’s Traffic Services Unit observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Horne Street and Murray Street. The 26-year-old male driver had a Novice driver’s license, which prohibited him from having any blood alcohol level. He was issued a 24-hour prohibition;
- A 55-year-old female driver was pulled over half an hour later near 14th Avenue, after she was also observed to be driving erratically. The woman exhibited numerous signs of being impaired by liquor, and refused to provide a breath sample, resulting in a 90-day driving prohibition;
- Ten minutes later, another officer stopped a vehicle to check for sobriety after noting a series of erratic moves. The 24-year-old male failed a roadside screening test, and was also issued a 90-day driving prohibition.
On March 1, shortly after 11 pm, an officer stopped a blue Ford Fusion in the area of Lougheed Highway and Cedar Street, after it was observed driving without tail lights on, and driving in the middle of the lane. The vehicle pulled over, but the driver fled into a wooded area nearby. Evidence in the car indicated that it was being used for drug trafficking. The investigation is ongoing.
