An officer on patrol on the evening of February 6 noted a brown Oldsmobile driving along Logan Avenue. A query of the license plate indicated that the owner of the car was a prohibited driver, so the officer pulled over the car to confirm whether the person driving had a valid license. The car initially stopped for police, but then sped off, driving through a red light at the intersection of Park Street and Lougheed Highway. A short time later, the vehicle was located near North Railway Avenue and James Street. The driver had lost control, drove off the roadway, and rolled multiple times down a small embankment. Fortunately, she was not injured. The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited, and she was issued tickets for failing to stop for police, and for driving through a red light.

Just after 4am on February 12, a vehicle parked on the street in the 8500 block of Cade Barr Street was set on fire. CCTV footage captured a person lighting the fire then running away. The investigation is ongoing, however anyone who saw any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area that night is asked to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.

On February 5, Mission RCMP responded to a request for assistance from court bailiffs, who were enforcing a court order for persons to vacate a property on Manzer Street. Once inside the residence at the property, bailiffs located multiple unsecured firearms, including a prohibited fully-automatic machine gun, believed to be of World War II vintage. The firearms were turned over to police for further investigation.

On the morning of February 6, a pickup truck hauling an old couch drove behind a grocery store in Mission, and selected a parking spot as the new home for the couch. A concerned citizen witnessed the deposit, and notified store staff, whom in turn notified police. Officers attended, confirmed the parking spot was definitely not the appropriate location to dispose of an old couch, and met with the witness, whom had obtained photos of the truck that had left the couch behind. When police called the owner of the truck, he initially could not recall ever illegally dumping a couch behind any grocery store, however upon learning that a photograph had captured him doing so, he suddenly remembered that yes, he had in fact dropped off the couch there. He quickly agreed to go back to the parking lot, collect the well-loved chesterfield, and dispose of it properly. City of Mission residents can take old furniture to the Mission Landfill, or call a local service for pickup and disposal.
