Auto Theft Prevention Reminder

Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT)

2017-11-22 16:25 PST

The Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT), is using social media to remind Langley residents about auto crime in their area.

Over the next several weeks people who live and work in parts of Langley will receive messages in their Facebook and Twitter feeds reminding them to lock their vehicles, protect their keys, and use anti-theft devices.

Many of the thefts that take place in Langley and other areas are preventable said Inspector Brian MacDonald, Officer in Charge of IMPACT. We have seen thefts due to keys left in cars, unlocked doors and the lack of anti-theft devices.

Police hope that with timely reminders, residents will secure their vehicles and auto crime will be reduced.

IMPACT is the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team, in partnership with the Provincial Government and ICBC. The team is comprised of RCMP and municipal police agencies working together to target prolific thieves and areas of high auto crime through the use of bait cars and other enforcement.
