File # 2017-16673

On May 16, 2017 at approximately 1130am, the Langley RCMP received a report of a teenage boy who was sending messages via social media that he may harm himself. The initial investigation led School Liaison Members to HD Stafford Middle School. As the investigation continued, additional threats were made to the students of HD Stafford Middle School. The school was immediately locked down and a search commenced of the school and school property for the male suspect. The male suspect is not a student of HD Stafford Middle School, and he was not located. In order to ensure the safety of all the students the school remained on lockdown and students were released in an orderly fashion with heavy police pressence. By 430pm all the students were off school property and the school was taken off lockdown.

The threats made were not to one specific student.  At this time the exact nature of the threat is not being released, although police do confirm it was to do physical harm to a student, or students.

Currently, the investigation continues and is still active to locate the male suspect. There will be no names released as the male suspect is a young offender.
