File # 11731
On Monday, March 20, at 6:38 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP received multiple calls from the public regarding a black Jeep Cherokee being driven erratically in the Canada Way and Willingdon Avenue area. A man was observed by witnesses operating the Jeep and allegedly attempting to run over a female. The Burnaby RCMP attended the scene and the driver of the Jeep struck two cars and fled the area. No one was injured as a result of the collision. The driver of the Jeep managed to evade police, and no police pursuit was initiated.
At 7:16 p.m., another report from the public was received indicating that the same Jeep was involved in a collision on the Port Mann Bridge. Witnesses saw the male driver and female passenger in a verbal altercation. Multiple police agencies attended the Port Mann Bridge including the Burnaby RCMP, Port Mann RCMP Freeway, and the Integrated Police Dog Section. The male and female were located on the bridge and taken into custody without incident.
The investigation is in the initial stages; however, police believe the male and female know one another.
