Burnaby RCMP seeking witnesses in arson investigations

On February 23rd, 2017 at about 12:30 a.m. a molotov cocktail was thrown through the window of a business located in the 5600 block of Hastings Street. The molotov cocktail did not break. The Burnaby RCMP attended the business the same day at 7:30 a.m. when the owner telephoned the police. Evidence was seized and the investigation is ongoing.

On February 25th, 2017 at about 1:30 a.m., the Burnaby RCMP responded to an arson at the same business located in the 5600 block of Hastings Street. A witness observed a male throw something, later identified as a smoke grenade, through the store’s window. A small fire began on the ground in the front of the business. The suspect fled the area. Evidence was seized and this investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as:

- White male;
- 172 cm (5’8);
- Heavy set build; and
- Wearing an orange safety vest and dark coloured hoody sweater.
