Bike Registry Volunteers Wanted

Prince George

2017-08-08 09:39 PDT

Police in Prince George are recruiting volunteers to help register bikes on the digital bicycle registration, reporting and recovery network, 529 Garage.

The registration team attends various public locations throughout the community during the riding season, whether part of a bigger event or just somewhere bike riders are likely to be. The events are mainly scheduled for a few hours each during evenings and weekends.

Volunteers would primarily be responsible for recording essential bike information and taking photos using a smart phone or other device (provided). Training is minimal and not difficult. A basic Police Information Check is required at no cost to the volunteer.

Volunteers would be representatives of the Prince George RCMP and would be helping to prevent & combat bike theft in our community.

This program is getting very well known throughout the community says Cpl. Craig Douglass, the officer leading this initiative. With the increasing popularity comes increased demand and we really want to fill that demand. More volunteers will allow us to reach more people and attend more locations.
