File # 2017-43262

A man faces charges after he was arrested during an RCMP investigation of a robbery on Yale Road.

The investigation followed a call to police on October 10, 2017 reporting the robbery of cash from a business in the 46000-block of Yale Road. General Duty and General Investigation Support Team (GIST) officers immediately arrived at the address where police obtained a description of the robbery suspect.

Later that afternoon the suspect was taken into custody after being recognised by an alert General Duty officer who was responding to unrelated event in the vicinity of the robbery.

Dean Evan Kinley, 63, of Chilliwack faces one charge of robbery. Mr. Kinley remains in custody pending a court date later this month.

The swift response of our officers to the scene together with the timely dissemination of the suspect’s description were key to the arrest, says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

RCMP ask anyone with information regarding this investigation to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
