Community Policing

Community Programs Unit

The Community Response Team is composed of regular members of the RCMP. They are the team that is responsible for high visibility in the downtown core, a unit that helps coordinate a plan for people with mental health issues, and liaising with youth in our community. They utilize a collaborative approach with community partners to solve on-going safety concerns/problems, including repeat calls for service.  Click here for more information on the Community Programs Unit.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is composed of representatives from Crisis Intervention Team logohealth care, addiction centres, social workers, paramedics, RCMP and municipal police forces, and other first responder agencies who ensure that all mentally ill persons in crisis receive continuity of care from all services involved. The CIT training program reduces the potential for situations involving a mentally ill person to escalate and bridges the gaps between services to help the individual receive the best long term care possible.  Click here for more information on the Crisis Intervention Team.

Youth Resource Officer

The Ridge Meadows youth resource unit has youth officers that work closely with the school district to ensure that students are learning in a safe environment. Youth Officers work with school officials, parents and students to deal with current issues and or trends with youth in the school environment and in the community as a whole.  Click here for more information on You Resource Officers.
