Hit and Run pedestrian collision – 128th street and 82nd avenue.

Surrey RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in a pedestrian motor vehicle collision that occurred on July 29, 2023 in the Newton area of Surrey.

On July 29, 2023, at approximately 12:38 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit and run collision in the 8200-block of 128 street. Responding police officers learned a black sedan was north bound on 128 street, when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The subsequent collision resulted in the vehicle sustaining obvious front end damage.

A male pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene. The only current description of the vehicle is a black sedan with front end damage, last seen north bound on 128 street.

The investigation is in the very early stages and police are on scene collecting CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses. Alcohol and speed have not been ruled out as contributing factors.

128 street will be closed between 82nd and 84th avenue for some time, and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
