High-risk repeat offender taken into custody

On Thursday, November 23, 2023, Sidney North/Saanich RCMP and Vancouver Island RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrested a man in the 9600 block of Third St. in Sidney after he had barricaded himself in his residence.

Officers attended a residence in Sidney to attempt an arrest of a high-risk repeat offender with an outstanding warrant. When police arrived, the male barricaded himself in the residence. Vancouver Island ERT responded to assist, they were able to call the suspect out of the residence and he was arrested without incident. This situation has been resolved and there is no risk to the public states Cst. Tim Cosgrove, Media Relations Officer for the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.
