File # Public Service Announcement

Coquitlam RCMP are excited to launch a new Property Crime Dashboard, an online interactive tool providing the public with crime data for the cities of Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam.

The new Property Crime Dashboard can be found on the Coquitlam RCMP website.

The new tool shares property crime data from the past two years for the cities of Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam. The information is meant to help residents stay informed and aware of what is happening in their communities.

We are excited to share this information with the public. Giving our communities access to property crime data will allow residents to be well informed so they can take proactive steps to discourage crime. said Corporal Alexa Hodgins. Previously, it has been difficult to share statistics due to privacy and operational concerns; however, it was important we overcome these concerns in order to increase our accountability and transparency.

The data will be updated after the respective city council for Coquitlam (every Trimester) and Port Coquitlam (every Quarter) have received the reports to council. The dashboard includes an interactive map, date and crime type filters, and a breakdown of property crime instances over time. This tool allows users to navigate through the data, providing users with a snapshot of criminal activity throughout the Detachment area.

The property crime dashboard displays the number of instances for four different property crime types:

The recorded information and instance markers are positioned at approximate locations to protect the privacy of the victims.
