File # 2023-316 et al

Recently police have received numerous reports of a man throwing or swinging objects at cars traveling on or near Highway 99, and yesterday they arrested one of the men involved.

On January 16, 2023, at about 3:40 p.m., police received a report of a man throwing a fishing rod at a car that was traveling on Buckley Ave. near Magee St.

Members located the man who fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, police found the man and arrested him for multiple offences including mischief, and he was later released with a future court date.

With these incidents, police believe at least two men have been involved, having similar physical descriptors and wearing similar clothing.

There’s been a lot of talk in community about this, and it’s good for us to be able to update that we’ve arrested someone, says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. Calls to police from community really helped, and we remind people to report to us if they see anything or their safety becomes at risk.

In addition to help from community, police thank local media who have assisted by notifying community for awareness highlighting the importance of reporting.
